Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. The young woman was just a child when her father, who worked as an carnival barker, died. The mother of the family had to take on jobs such as waitressing and cleaning. Ruth was born in a poor area of Boston Massachusetts where she attended high school. After only two school years the young woman left to pursue the acting career. The path she chose did not come without challenges. In New York, her first job involved posing stills for crime magazines. the theatre work that she longed for was not available. In New York, she worked at a bar as the check-in lady before resigning before moving to Boston. It was there that she earned a living in the ushering industry during the during the day and then at night was a part of the New England Repertory Company. It was her first role as an actor. Drama studies led her to receive a degree at Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
